Varsity Eight Wins New England Title

The Brunswick Varsity Eight came home with gold medals from the 76th annual New England Interscholastic Rowing Association (NEIRA) Championship Regatta. The victory, a first-ever New England title in rowing for the School, capped off an undefeated season for the varsity boat.
Despite a somewhat shaky start to their race, the Bruins were able to lead wire-to-wire and win by 2.5 seconds over Exeter with then two more seconds back to Kent in third.
The crew has earned the opportunity to travel to England this summer to race at the famed Henley Royal Regatta (June 28-July 3).
Brunswick’s Second Varsity Eight were not to be overshadowed and took home silver medals. In their race, Brunswick and Exeter pulled away from the field by open water, but Brunswick came up just under half a boat length short. The 2nd place finish was the first-ever medal for a Brunswick Second Varsity Eight at the New Englands.
Inspired by the successes of their teammates, the Brunswick Third Varsity Eight also earned silver medals. The medal was the first for a Brunswick 3V since 2007.
